In July 2025, the Cyno Breeders Association, in collaboration with Professor Steven J.Schapiro, Ph.d, one of the world’s leading experts in Primate Behaviour and Management, organized the first ever Primate Management Conference Mauritius (PMCM).

The PMCM featured presentations by internationally renowned experts and Mauritian professionals on primate welfare, behavioural science, veterinary care, and biomedical innovation, offering a rare opportunity to showcase Mauritius’ capabilities, scientific rigour, and ethical commitments to the public.

This three-day conference offered opportunities for technical exchange and laid the groundwork to coalesce the government’s strategic vision of transforming Mauritius into a knowledge based and innovation driven economy, by way of a growing Biotech and Biomedical Research sector.
